Bathroom Remodeling without Breaking the Bank

Remodel your Bathroom without Breaking the Bank

Whether you’ve lived in your house or condo for a long time, recently purchased a property at a bargain price with a bathroom that needs updating or are simply tired and dislike the bathroom you currently have, today it is more convenient than ever to have your bathroom completely remodeled for a luxurious ambiance right at home!

When planning a bathroom remodel, there are several important components to consider: the shower or tub/shower combination, toilet, sink, walls, floor, vanity, mirrors, and light fixtures.  Before you begin to pick out all of these items, however, think about the color scheme and “mood” you would like for your bathroom.  Perhaps you would like a sleek bathroom in white and black with a glass shower enclosure and stainless steel or chrome-finish hardware, or maybe a rustic bathroom with a wood vanity and brass hardware is more to your liking. No matter your decorating style, Luxury Bath Systems can help you custom create the bathroom of your dreams at a great price!

Once you have a vision for your ideal bathroom in mind, sit down with your bath dealer to determine what you can do with the space you have.  It is crucial to know the dimensions of your bathroom prior to making any changes and working with a professional who measures your space and is familiar with the available sizes of bathtubs, vanities and toilets is the best way to ensure that you achieve the desired result with the greatest beauty and highest functionality.

Nowadays, making your grand ideas for a beautiful bathroom a reality, at an affordable cost, is easy with countless remodeling options.  The pièce de résistance deserving the most attention in any bathroom is the bathtub or, if there is no tub, the shower.  If your tub needs a “facelift” but you do not want to spend a lot of money replacing it, a great option for your bathroom is a custom-made tub liner and matching wall system that is measured to fit perfectly over your already existing tub. Done at a fraction of the cost and the time of a full tub replacement, this no-grout-required acrylic liner is designed to prevent mildew and mold from growing and is incredibly easy to clean.  For an added touch of elegance, and to finally get rid of that pesky shower rod that keeps causing the curtain to fall on you at the most inopportune moments, add a sliding glass (or glass-like) door to your newly updated tub or shower.

When replacing the toilet, vanity and other fixtures, a professional bath consultant can also help you determine what material, size and design is best for your preferred style and budget regardless of whether your remodeling project is big or small.  Even under special circumstances, like the need for a seat or rails to aid an older or disabled person, your bathroom can be transformed into a place of luxury perfect for your daily needs and ideal for an indulgent weekend full of spa-like splendor.

Meet the Folks at Luxury Bath

Meet the Folks at Luxury Bath Systems Illia and Sofia Kornea
by Linda Herman
Luxury Bath Systems doesn’t quite describe Luxury Bath Systems… Operated by husband and wife team, Illia and Sofia Kornea and their son, Nick,Luxury Bath systems offers not only beauty when creating a bathroom environment but also a way of protecting against mold, mildew and bacteria so often associated with dampness. I met with this no nonsense couple this month and got the inside scoop on the “luxury” in the Luxury Bath Systems”
Located on busy York road in Warminster, theirs is a spacious showroom highlighting a variety of options for redoing a bathroom-no matter its size. I think my favorite display was that walk-in tub where the bather can sit comfortably while luxuriating by the swirling motion of warm water. More of that later.
Originally from New York, the Kornea family move to Bensalem awhile ago. The commute to New York for business took their toll and Illia and Sofia looked for an opportunity to open their doors in nearby Bucks County. Illia had experience in the bathroom industry, refitting, redoing, etc. and wanted to do the same in this area.
According to Illia, “this is one franchise. What that means is we get the tremendous support from corporate office and from fellow franchisees. It also means we manufacture our own products and that those products are proprietary in nature. Much research and investment has gone into developing the best products.”
It was clear that I needed some clarification when I started talking to Illia. I really didn’t understand his product even though he and his firm has become regular advertisers in our magazine. I was a little embarrassed with my ignorance, but not too proud to admit I appreciated the education I was about to get!!!
According to Illia “A Luxury Bath System is a replacement system for the different parts in your bathroom. The shower, the tub,the shower pan… all existing parts are fitted with replacement parts that are placed over them and then sealed grout-free. There is no porous grout to trap and grow bacteria-laden mold and mildew. There’s no grout that needs to be resealed. there’s not grout that might crack and create leakages. Our systems are the heaviest gauge 4-layer acrylic that has the antimicrobial protection of our proprietary Microban causing mildew, mold and bacteria. And it’s easy to keep clean.
Having built a few homes, one as recently as three years ago, I considered myself pretty current with regards to trends in home building and design. However, as Illia and I walked around the showroom, I realized I was about five years behind the eight ball!!!
He shared how there was no need to rip out, tear down or clean-out when using a Luxury Bath System. Precise measurements are taken and selections from over 1400 tub molds, a myriad of acrylic surfaces and shower pans are made and you can have your new bathroom installed and finished in as little as One Day. That’s a wonferful timetable if youve got just one bathroom serving a family of four!
I was most impressed with the “germ-free” aspect of the materials used. “Increasingly we find our product used in senior living situation, retirement homes. In environments where sanitary conditions are more challenging, our product is easy to maintain and even easier to clean,”said Illia. He agreed when I commented that I thought it would be great in shore communities where dampness and mildew is a big issue.
As we talked, we came upon what might be considered the ultimate “luxury.” The walk-in tub seems the perfect assist if you have a disability or if you just want comfort of sitting upright in a bathtub. No need to crawl up and out, just pick yourself up (gracefully). The tub can fit in almost any existing tub foot print. It can include jets of not. Whatever your choice, it sounds like the just-right luxury for any bathing beauty.
Illia left for an appointment so his wife, Sofia, picked up the slack. As in many other working couples, Sofia is the detail person of the operation… as of way wanting to keep on point… that being Luxury Bath Systems and how wonderful it is. She is consistent in reminding me how important customer satisfaction is and how theyn”service to death” any client, new or old. their product and service comes with a lifetime warranty, so they aim to please. She lso wanted to make sure I understood the benefits of the franchise relationship “Our relationship to our corporate office is critical to our success. we’re in aily contact and rely on their support for keeping our product on-trend. They also maitain ongoing research to insure and improve our bacteria-fighting Microban.
She continued, “We are committed to making sure our clients are happy – not just satisfied. We can do the full bathroom including floors, and custom made cabinetry. And we provide a lifetime warranty on all Luxury Bath Systems products… even if they’ve been installed by another franchisee. And all our products are American Made.
I was determined to get Sofia off her point and on to mine.. one detail person to another!! I wanted yo see what hobbies and interests take over when they’re not surrounded by beautiful bathrooms. “We love going outdoors. Beaches…We go to Lake George, enjoy the Pocono’s, travel toupstte New York regularly. Gardening is a fvorite past time. bensalem was such a difference when we moved from New York. Queens and Bucks County are workds apart. But what we liked about Bensalem was that we got to enjoy ‘the country’ while haveing access to the city. ‘I noticed her pet pictures..” Shaow is my Huskie. He’s gentle, sweet.” ( Ialso noticed he has his own little “apartment” set up when he visits the shop.. it’s definitely a dog’s life!!!) Like many enterpreuners, Sofia and Illia have little time away from the business. Home and nature is their oasis for relaxation and escape. with one son, Michael, still in college and the other son, Nick and his wife, their busy with family and friends.
I enjoyed my time with Sofia and Illia. It was interesting to see another husband and wife interact in business. My observation hit home in several areas! I did ask Sofia if she had installed one of her beautiful systems in her hime. Yes, se has.. and she noted with a wistful smile she’s waiting to install one o the walk-in tubs very soon. Ide like to say I am too, but I haven’t told my husband yet!!.

Better Bath Basics

Better Bath Basics

When a group of people were asked the question “Which room in your house do you hate to clean the most?” the number one answer was “The bathroom!”  While there’s no magic answer or solution for avoiding the ongoing chore of bathroom maintenance and cleaning. I have some helpful hints on how to get satisfying results without too much work.

Jose Carreras, a member of the “Three Tenors” says that he never sings in the shower, but he does occasionally sings in the bathroom. He notes that bathrooms usually have the best acoustics. If you like to sing, do it while you work. It will make the work go faster,
You will feel happier while you get the job done.

The average person uses the toilet 2,500 times each year according to World toilet organization, that’s about 6-8 times daily. And it will probably come as no surprise that women generally take 3 times as long as men to use the toilet.

With all that use, it’s no wonder the toilet needs cleaning. Here are some hints and tips that will have your bowl gleaming and flush with pride.

Cleaning the Bowl
•    For basic cleaning, just toss 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda around the bowl, then scrub with a toilet brush and flush.
•    If you want to deodorize and disinfect, pour ½ cup of distilled white vinegar around the bowl, with or without baking soda. Let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub with a brush and flush.

Bowl Brightener

Every now and then, pour a 1 liter bottle of cola-flat or fizzy or diet-into the bowl. Let it stay there for an hour or so, then flush and notice how the porcelain sparkles.

Cleaning Toilet Rings

•    A ring in the toilet bowl is usually because of hard-water build up. Make a paste of borax powder (available in supermarket or drugstores) and a few drops of lemon juice. Wet the bowl by flushing the toilet. Then smear the paste on the ring with a sponge or plastic knife. Let it stay there for a couple of hours. Then scrub with a toilet brush and flush the toilet again.
•    Wet a pumice stone available in drugstores with a bit o water, and then gently rub the toilet ring with the stone. Wetting the stone is very important because a dry pumice stone will scratch the porcelain surface.

Basic Stain Removers

•    Toss a couple of Alka-Seltzer or denture cleaning tablets into the toilet bowl. Once the fizzing stops, scrub the stains with a brush and flush.
•    If you have some Tang fruit juice powder, sprinkle 1/3 cup of the powder in the bowl. Leave it there for a few hours, then scrub with a brush and flush.
•    If the stains are too tough for even Tang or denture cleanser, empty a few vitamin C tablets, or mash the vitamin C into a powder and drop them in the bowl. Let it stay that way for a few hours. Then scrub with a brush and flush.

Toilet Tank
The parts inside a toilet tank-including the flush and ballcock- are constantly submerged under water and are used many times each day. There’s lot of wear and tear on these parts, even though their fairly easy to replace, you want them to do their jobs properly for as long as possible.

Cleaning the Tank
•    Once a month, before you go to bed, pour half a 1-pound of baking soda into the toilet tank. The next morning, when you flush the toilet, the tank and the bowl, too should be nice and clean.
•    Drop in a couple of denture-cleansing tablets. Wait one hour for them to stop fizzing, then start cleaning and flush.

I hope that the tips and tricks in this article helped solve some of the difficulties in cleaning the toilet bowl. For more tips read Best-Ever Home Secrets.

Cleaning Shower Doors

From:  Best-Ever Home Secrets
by….., Joan Wilen and Lydia Wilen

While you’re still in the shower, pour a little shampoo
on a washcloth and wash the doors. Rinse and wash with the shower
spray. After your out of the shower and finish drying yourself, wipe
the shower doors dry with your towel.

That takes care of the inside-the-shower shower doors.
Clean the other side-the outside – of the shower doors with
1 part distilled white vinegar to 3 parts plain water.
Dampen a cloth with the mixture and wipe down the doors, then
dry them with a few paper towels or dry cloth.

For a really grimy glass shower door-either inside or
outside – pour some full-strenght distilled white vinegar on a
washcloth or sponge, and go over the doors with it. Wait 5 minutes,
then rub a corner of the door with a sponge or cloth.

If the grime comes off easily, finish the job. If the scum
and the film don’t come off, sprinkle a bit of baking soda on the
cloth or sponge, and scour the doors until they’re clean. Then rinse
with plain water and dry with a clean cloth.

Unless of course you happen to have Luxury Bath Shower doors:

Safe and Natrual Room Deodorizer

Safe and natural room Deodorizer

In a spray bottle, add 2 cups of distilled water
(available in most supermarkets),  cups of rubbing
alcohol and  drops of natural lemon oil, available
in natural health food oil. Then lemon oil may seem pricey,
but a 1-ounce bottle may last you a year or more.

A few sprays of the mixture will freshen the air
without exposing you to the toxic risk of chemicals
that are used in many commercial air freshners. Inhaling
certain chemicals has been linked to headaches,
sinus infections and even asthma.

How to Make Your House Energy Efficient

One requirement of a house is that it should be comfortable to live in. Of course, many people will say that a house cannot be called that if it cannot be inhabited. In order to make a house comfortable, certain aspects of civilization are required. We need to have the benefits of technology within the house in order for us to live in it.

Let’s face it: few of us can live without the benefits of technology. Only by having the conveniences of our times available do we stand a chance at actually having comfortable lives. However, comfort does have a price. In order to have these technological conveniences we need to consume energy. Energy costs money and, as people will tell you, money is not easy to come by.

People try to find ways to save money when possible (at least, the smart ones do). An evidence of this is the way a sale can make a product immensely popular. If you take a look around you, you will probably notice that even millionaires try to save as much money as they possibly can at their level of lifestyle.

In order to save money we, of course, try not to waste any of it. Most people would rather not spend on anything that they do not need. Electricity bills have a way of making you feel cheated out of your money. People feel that electricity bills cannot be controlled, hence, they should just be paid. This is because people feel that electricity is a necessary part of life and thus, the costs of electricity cannot be reduced, only paid.

However, if you really try to look into your situation, you might be surprised to see that there are, in fact, many ways in order to make your house energy efficient. By having an energy efficient house, you can cut back on the cost of electricity and only pay for what you are really consuming.

There are many ways to make a house more energy efficient. These methods are often found by other people to be time-consuming and expensive. However, those who have chosen to employ these methods find that the savings you get by having an energy efficient house is definitely worth the effort.

One thing to consider in making an energy efficient house is material. The materials you use in building a house significantly affect the cost of heating and cooling. By choosing your materials wisely, you can have a house that does not consume much energy to maintain a comfortable temperature level.

Another thing to consider is the design. In order to make a house more energy efficient you’ll need the help of an architect. Some architects actually specialize in designing energy-efficient buildings. By going to these people, you can maximize your energy efficiency.

Of course, energy efficient houses may not look like a conventional home. In fact, these houses may even seem a little strange to those who do not realize the purpose of energy efficient designs. However, the technology today has made it possible for architects to incorporate both forma and function in their house designs. This means that you may be able to have a very aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient home.

Also, in order to have energy efficient home, you’ll need to take a look at your surroundings and see if there are any alternative energy sources available for you to use. By making use of alternative energy sources, you can significantly lower your electricity bill.

Alternative energy is also known as “free energy” to some people. This is because of the fact that these energy sources are constantly being produced through the earth’s natural processes and are thus, available for harnessing.

In order to harness those alternative energy sources for your home use, you’ll need to have some sort of mechanism or conversion device. Thankfully enough, many home alternative energy devices are now available in the market for those who want their homes to be energy efficient.

Energy efficient homes are possible, thanks to the ever evolving technology. Energy efficient homes show us that it is possible to have all the comforts offered by modern civilization without paying a very high price.

Build The Bathroom Of Your Dreams

Build a Bathroom of Your Dreams.

How would you like to transform your old, tired bathroom into a refreshing, beautiful new one? If you’re like most people, updating your bathroom seems like an overwhelming, complicated, expensive and time-consuming venture. But what if you could give your bathroom a brand new look in just one day with no demolition and no mess at a fraction of replacement costs? Sound too good to be true?
That’s because you haven’t been to Luxury Bath Systems in Warminster. Luxury Bath Systems uses an exclusive acrylic tub liner that fits right over your existing tub. Add that to a matching wall system that covers your existing tiles from floor to ceiling, and your bathroom will take on a completely different appearance.
The problem with tiles is that they are porous and over time will penetrate water, growing mildew and mold. The benefit of using an acrylic liner is that it’s made of nonporous material making it easy to clean. Simply wipe it with vinegar and water, Dawn dish soap and water or Formula 409 and it will be good as new. Plus, you’ll never have to worry about grout or mold problems again and it comes with a lifetime warranty! At Luxury Bath, you’ll have over 1,400 tub molds from which to choose.

Our system uses an epoxy adhesive that fills in the spaces and air pockets where the tub liner is placed. The epoxy hardens like a rock for a perfect permanent fit. Once installed, you’ll never know the liner exists and you’ll never need to replace it!
We are the only company to use Microban, an antimicrobial product protection that’s infused into its tub liner and wall system. It is engineered to protect Luxury Bath Systems from bacteria, mold and mildew.

Instead of requiring several specialty contractors like a plumber, carpenter and electrician, we use a certified technician who can complete the entire job in as little as a day. You’ll be showering the day after its installed!
Luxury Bath Systems come in over 50 color combinations, subtle colors that coordinate well with the rest of your bathroom. As a result, there’s no need to redo your entire bathroom when you can choose colors that compliment the color scheme of your existing bathroom.
Customize your new tub or shower with Luxury Bath System’s line of shower and bath accessories ranging from soap dishes and caddies to shower seats, towel bars and grab bars. Bath accessories are made with the same acrylic used in its tub liner and wall system and are also manufactured with Microban protection. While most glass doors are not treated. Luxury Bath System‘s shower doors are treated on both sides so they don’t have microscopic holes and are totally smooth. As a result, they’re easy to clean enabling you to wipe dirt right off.
Our showers can be completed in just two days! Over the years, Luxury Bath has expanded its product line. Its unique system now includes shower pans, walk-in tubs, soaking tubs and whirlpool tubs. Luxury Bath Systems can be customized to any size and configuration. “All of our products require low maintenance and are easy to clean,” says Ilya Kornea, co-owner of this Warminster store along with his wife, Sophie.
